Beth is the daughter of James Patrick Owens and Jean Mae Colberg Owens (both deceased).

Beth was a very devoted mother and her 17 year-old son James Patrick is her pride and joy.
She was active in James' Boy Scout troupe and a merit badge counselor, and for several years was a PTA board member at James' Elementary School.

The Kings Park Civic Association benefitted greatly from Beth's community spirit, enthusiasm and energy. Beth organized the first annual Kings Park Civic Association Community pot luck dinner and over 500 neighbors attended....

Beth's academic and professional career is impressive. As an undergraduate student Beth attended the University of Maryland College Park and received her PhD in Chemistry there in 1990. She then went on to a Postdoctoral Appointment at the University of Delaware. Beth published 22 papers and holds a patent in her field.

Over the years Beth worked for the American Tobacco Company; Fibertek Inc; and FMC Corporation. She taught Chemistry at Middlesex County College, NJ and retired from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
